Obituary of Gerald Richard Sims

Gerald Richard Sims was born September 29, 1942 in Metcalfe County, KY and he passed away at his residence in Gallatin on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at the age of 74. Gerald was the son of Joseph Cordell Sims and Myrtle Withers Sims. He was a retired employee of the TVA Steam Plant after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Gallatin Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his son, Damon Kendrick Sims who passed away Dec. 25, 2012, his parents, brother, Wayne Sims and two sisters, Daisy and Wilma Jean. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue Ruark Sims of Gallatin; son, Jason Sims of Owensboro, KY; two daughters, Glenda Renee Sims of Shelbyville, TN and Belinda Denise Ruark of Oak Harbor, WA; brother, Joe Layne Sims of Gallatin; sister, Alma Jean Sims of Texas; four grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Naiya and Daniel Sims. Visitation will be on Monday, August 28 from 5-8 pm at the Gallatin Church of Christ located at 150 E Main St, Gallatin, TN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 10 am at Gallatin Church of Christ with Bro. Daniel Gordan officiating. Entombment will follow in Sumner Memorial Gardens.
