Obituary of Ruby Lee Powers

Ruby Lee Harvey Powers, age 93 of Madison, TN, passed away on Sunday night, February 18, 2018, at the Gallatin Center for Rehabilitatiin and Healing. She was born in Culleoka, TN, on September 21, 1924, to Charles Luther and Ethel Robinson Harvey. She was married to Willard Wilson Powers, who passed away in November of 1992. They were married 52 years before he passed.

She retired from a long career at DuPont in Old Hickory, TN, followed by work in retail at Harvey’s department store in Madison, TN, but her favorite job was being the cafeteria manager at Neely’s Bend Elementary School for several years while her children were young. She was a member of Neely’s Bend Church of Christ in Madison for much of her life, and then First Baptist Church of Gallatin in her later years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, children, Barbara, Larry and Don, four brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her son, Dan Wilson (Cheryl) Powers of Buffalo Valley, TN, daughter-in-law Jeannie Donelson Powers of Thomasville, GA, sister Dot Bowdren of Austin, TX, several half-sisters, five grandchildren, Dana Davis, Rachel (Lawren) Lassiter, Cody Powers, Nathan Powers and Daniel Powers, and 6 great grandchildren, Bryce, Silas, Aidan, Savannah, Leyton and Liam. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and Christian,  and was known for her beautiful smile and always sweet spirit.

A private family service will be conducted a later time.
